Vladimir Mukomel is a Doctor of Sociology and a PhD candidate in Economics. He is the Head of Division of the Institute of Sociology, Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Director of the Center for Ethno-political and Regional Studies (NGO). His research interests include migration studies and migration policy, national minorities, ethnic policy as well as ethno-demographic and socio-economic consequences of conflicts. Mukomel’s most recent projects include ‘Socio-economic and socio-cultural factors in inter-ethnic tensions and conflicts’ (Russian Science Foundation, 2015-2017),  ‘Interethnic accord as a resource in the consolidation of Russian society: regional variations’ (Russian Science Foundation, 2014-2016),  ‘Diaspora – Partner in the Development of Tajikistan’ (International Organization for Migration – IOM, 2014),  ‘Analysis of the peculiarities of the mutual adaptation and integration potential of the Russian youth and young migrants from Central Asia and Transcaucasia’ (Russian Foundation for Humanities, 2013-2014), ‘Analysis of the adaptation and integration of the ‘1.5 generation’ migrants from Central Asia and Transcaucasia in Russian cities’ (Russian Foundation for Humanities, 2011-2012) and ‘Moldovans in the Russian Federation: socio-economic profile and policy challenges’ (IOM, 2011-2012).
