Melissa Bennett is a PhD student working on the AHRC funded Africa’s Sons Under Arms Project at the University of Warwick. The project uses the British West India Regiments to explore the relationships between the arming of people of African descent and the changing nature of racial thought from the late 18th to the early 20th century. Melissa’s project focuses on images captured by, and of, the soldiers of the West India Regiments.
