Author profile: Vasileios Syros

Vasileios Syros is the holder of the Chair of Excellence in Indo-Hellenic Strategic Thought and Statecraft at the United Service Institution of India (USI), India’s tri-service think tank (est. 1870). He is Life Member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, and holds concurrent appointments as Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for European Global Studies at the University of Basel (Switzerland) and the Director of the Early Modern Greek Culture Program at The Medici Archive Project (Florence, Italy). His areas of interest include the history of medieval and early modern political thought (Christian, Islamic, and Jewish traditions), cross-cultural leadership, and Indian strategic thought. His recent publications include Byzantium between Western Cities and Eastern Empires (Athens: Armos, 2023), Medieval Islamic Political Thought in Dialogue with the Humanist Tradition of the Italian Renaissance (Iași: Editura Junimea, 2021), and Medieval Islamic Political Thought and Modern Leadership (Athens: Papazissis Publishers, 2020).
